Notes: In recounting the guest-list for her Thursday evening parties, Morrell mentions Barbara Hiles (later Bagenal) - 'a nice springing and gay girl' (p. 278) - as part of a group from the Slade, including Carrington, Dorothy Brett, Mark Gertler. These were Barbara Bagenal's own copies of Morrell's memoirs, her markings alighting on both her collegiate circle and the Bloomsbury Group members with whom she became familiar (indeed, she was first acquainted with Vanessa Bell at one of Morrell's gatherings)....more
