Notes: An attractive, amusing and extensive work of (gentle) French satire against the English, published in 25 short issues. The work is widely observant of English traits and social activities; football, parliament, the theatre, dancing, the monarchy, the principal aristocracy and court customs are all covered. The hand-coloured plates are particularly well done; they send up English customs, fashion and manners, and poke scatalogical fun at the military.
