Notes: Inscribed by the author on the flyleaf, in an attractively elaborate style: 'Pour Barbara, L'Auteur, 3.3.69'. The recipient was the artist Barbara Bagenal, a member of the Bloomsbury Group who knew Picasso through his friendship with Clive Bell - with whom she travelled in France and Italy throughout the 1950s and 1960s. During her travel diaries of those journeys, she records at one point during their socialising with Picasso and Jean Cocteau that 'P kissed me!'His second work for the theatre....more
