Notes: Inscribed by the author on the flyleaf, in an attractively elaborate style: 'Pour Barbara, L'Auteur, 3.3.69'. The recipient was the artist Barbara Bagenal, a member of the Bloomsbury Group who knew Picasso through his friendship with Clive Bell - with whom she travelled in France and Italy throughout the 1950s and 1960s.
