Notes: A late letter, in the year of his death, from Leonard Woolf, to the horticulturalist Nicholas Bagenal - who, decades earlier, had been part of the Woolfs' circle in Bloomsbury, alongside his wife Barbara Bagenal (née Hiles). Woolf declares it a 'pleasant surprise to hear from you again after so many years', and is 'glad you liked my book' (probably 'A Calendar of Consolation'). In reference to G.E.
