Plutarch's Lives. The Translation called Dryden's.

Plutarch.

Plutarch's Lives. The Translation called Dryden's.

Corrected from the Greek and revised by A.H. Clough.

Description: some titles a little foxed, 5 vols; 8vo., full contemporary red morocco, a little dulled but a very nice set.

Publication Details: Sampson Low, 1861

Notes: An attractive copy of this classic translation of Plutarch's Lives. The translation known as Dryden's was first published in the years 1683-86, Dryden in fact only providing the life of Plutarch and the dedicatory epistle, the latter omitted in the present edition. Both the original edition and Clough's revision, first published in 1859, were frequently reprinted. With the bookplate of publisher John Murray.
