Description: pen and ink on card or paper, some with a small amount of colouring in blue, most signed by the illustrator in the image, some with pencil captions and other marginal marks referring to their printing, various sizes and formats, a newspaper obituary and a note regarding these having been rescued from the wastepaper basket following the magazine's closure, very good condition

Notes: Molly Brett's career as an illustrator began in the 1930s and carried on into the 1980s, including numerous commissions for Enid Blyton and a long association, for her own stories, with the Medici Society. These drawings are from the middle part of her career, illustrating various stories for 'The Open Door' magazine, and in one example providing a design for its seventieth anniversary; they are firmly set in the world of children, with Brett's ability to depict animals interacting with each other and with people particularly evident....more
