Notes: Samuel Butler's epic satirical poem, originally published between 1663 and 1678, and in print, virtually continuously until the turn of the 20th century (rivalling Byron's Don Juan in this respect) is here fittingly accompanied by Hogarth's engravings, originally issued in a 1726 edition.
