The author, Sir Henry Philip Price, was a Yorkshire tailor, who pioneered affordable suits: in prescribing the modern wardrobe, he is anxious to cater for 'the normal man, of normal means, in a normal job', and stresses the value of trusting one's tailor. An attractively designed history of male attire, beginning in ancient times but gathering in detail through the ages.
