Notes: Inscribed on the flyleaf by the author: 'To Professor A.M. Low, with very best wishes, Barbara Frost'. The recipient was presumably the author and inventor, Archibald Montgomery Low – though it is late in his life, and the connection with Frost is obscure. Her third and final mystery novel with Marka de Lancey, a New York lawyer, as its protagonist; a brief comparison of the portrait of the heroine by John J. Shiveley (Frost's husband) on the dustjacket's rear flap and the author photograph on its rear panel illustrates a high degree of identification. ...more
