The Gay Intrigue.

Kahane (Jack)

The Gay Intrigue.

Description: FIRST EDITION, some light foxing to opening leaves recurrent a little at rear, pp. 323, crown 8vo, original orange cloth, lettered in black to backstrip and upper board, backstrip and borders faded, lightly handled overall with a copuple of waterspots at head of lower board, corners of upper board gently knocked, light wear at backstrip ends, edges a little toned with a few faint marks, fair

Publication Details: Grant Richards, 1925

Notes: A scarce novel by the later founder of the Obelisk Press in Paris, in which all characters 'are fictitious with the exception of Messieurs Marcel Proust, Saint Granier and Freud'; it continues the 'light and slightly risqué' (ODNB) vein of his debut, 'Laugh and Grow Rich' - but its lack of readership and poor sales not fulfilling the promise of its predecessor's title.
