Notes: The Church of England Zenana Misisonary Society was a British Anglican missionary society established to spread Christianity in India, which would later expand its Christian missionary work into Japan and Qing Dynasty China. The latter is under discussion here, in this work by one of its missionaries, Mary Darley (c.1870-1934).
