Notes: Inscribed on the flyleaf to the author's son, Bill (his Hawaii address label, as 'William Richard Oliver', to the verso), by Oliver Onions' widow - 'with love from Mum, Aberdovey, Wales, 1966'. She was the novelist Berta Ruck. On the facing pastedown is a TLs to Ruck from John Betjeman, short but effusive, praising her writing and exalting her late husband whilst agreeing to distribute the cards promoting this edition – one such being pasted to the flyleaf beneath her inscription.
