Description: with an engraved portrait frontispiece, frontispiece and title laid down, the latter with minor loss to the edges, paper flaw in G1 with the loss of a few letters (sense recoverable), occasional minor staining and a few spots, tiny bit of worming in the upper margins of the first few leaves, short tear in lower margin of D1, entering text but without loss, a few headlines shaved, pp. [xvi], 404, 8vo, modern half calf, neat ownership inscription on title of W. Notes: The fourth edition in English (all translated by John Davies) of a collection of Scarron's Novels, the first to contain The Unexpected Choice. The first collection, 1665, had but four, the subsequent two, seven.
