Notes: John Tindall was a whip maker in (or near) York, and used this volume for a number of purposes between 1815 and 1831. There are a few recipes and remedies, but mainly the entries relate to his twin occupations of whip maker and land surveyor, these two covered in great detail. The is a compendious Valuation of Stock begun on 3rd January 1815, running to 17 pages and totalling £432/6/6½. There are 3 pages on the Prices of Thongs, with costs, wholesale prices and profits, and a 2-page Prices of Whips & Making per Dozen - 35 varieties.
