Notes: A scarce pedagogical text, one of some longevity. Ends with George III, glorying in the capture of Havana and Manilla (rather than, say, lamenting the loss of the 13 colonies).'In 1781 [Valpy] was appointed headmaster of Reading School, [which] was at that time struggling, with only twenty-three pupils.
