Notes: Huntingford was warden of Winchester College (his reputation among Wykehamists was 'a lickspittle to the great and a bully to the young, a pedant, a liar and a cheat', see ODNB), and bishop of Hereford. His A Short Introduction to the Writing of Greek (1778) became Winchester's preferred textbook for sixty years. ESTC records 3 copies in the UK, and 2 in the US, LoC, and Yale.
