Notes: Inscribed on the flyleaf by the book's illustrator, to a notable American bibliophile (he of the bookplate): 'Frederick B. Adams Jr, after meeting him at tea, December 12th 1935, Clare Leighton'. The recipient was later Director of the Pierpont Morgan Library, and collected Robert Frost and Thomas Hardy - a couple of titles from the latter's work also illustrated by Leighton.
