Description: manuscript in ink on paper pp. 283, xv (Index), [14, including 2 blanks, and some leaves written on recto only], [ii], 189, [13], 4to, contemporary calf backed boards, spine with a gilt fleuron in 4 compartment,1 further compartment with terracotta lettering piece, paper label removed from foot of spine along with some of the gilt of the fleuron, a little rubbed, stamp of seminary on title

Notes: Fourdinier, 1788-1845, entered the seminary in Arras in 1807, or before. He went on to have a distinguished career, ending as Supérieur de la Congrégation et du Séminaire du Saint-Esprit, Protonotiare apostolique. The text is entirely in Latin, except for an appendix (not so called) in French: Quelques reflexions sur l'ame des Bêtes, with examples ancient to modern, via Aquinas; the moderns include Descartes, Leibniz, and Locke.
